This tool works the same way as the popular song hunters that some mobile phone companies advertise, but with the exception that Tunatic does it for free.

To find out the title of the song and the artist, all you have to do is have a microphone that you can put close to the speaker.

After listening to the melody for a brief amount of time, Tunatic will access its database and display info about the song. To initiate the analysis of the piece you must click on the magnifying glass.

Don’t worry—you don’t have to start from the beginning of the song. It works even though the piece has already begun playing.
